July 4th nails

I had decided to paint my nails for the 4th of July. I was just going to paint them alternating red, white and blue but then I decided to add a twist on two fingers for each hand. It didn’t come out quite as nice as I would have liked but it came out better than it could have. haha!

I started by painting the middle three fingers of each hand white. The middle finger was staying white. I was using white as the base for the other two.

I started by painting the middle three fingers of each hand white (well, technically opaque). The middle finger was staying all white. I was using white as the base for the other two.

It's hard to see but I added a thin strip of tape across the middle of my two fingers. I wish I would have made the tape a bit thinner though.

I painted my pinky finger solid red and the tops of my other nails red as well.

Then I added blue to the tips of the nails and made my thumb solid blue. When it dried a little, I had Hubby take off the tape.

Then I used nail polish remover around the edges to make it look prettier and added a clear finishing coat of polish.

Well, there you have it! My pretty nails for the fourth of July. I wanted to have Hubby take a picture of both hands but I forgot to. Oops!

Late night ramble when I should be sleeping

Ah insomnia. Peanut has had a crazy sleep schedule lately. She will sleep through the night for 3-4 days. Then she will become a night owl staying up all night for 3-4 days. It’s been a continuing cycle. I try to get her off of the late nights but she keeps reverting back to it. This has been really messing up my sleep schedule. When I do finally get her to fall asleep, I am left wide awake. I laid in bed for 45 minutes trying to sleep to no avail. I finally got up when I had to pee and didn’t see the point in going back to bed.

What I hate most about being wide awake at night is the free time I have to think. I’m an overthinker. I think and think and think. One thought leads to another to another and its a hard cycle to break. I am currently worried about finances but I’m not even bothering getting into that. Worrying about our finances makes me wish so badly that I was still licensed for massage therapy. I even spent time looking on craigslist for job openings. I don’t know why I bothered because it makes me even sadder. I loved doing massage therapy. It was a passion of mine. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to renew my license. Especially without a massage therapy job waiting for me. Not to mention I haven’t given a real massage in almost a year.

Part of me wants to get into shape, lose weight, live a healthy lifestyle and then help others do the same. I’m not sure how I would do that. Either becoming a fitness instructor or something. It has been a possible thought in the back of my mind but it is too far away for me to even think about it. I also fear of the same thing happening to that “dream” as what happened to my massage therapy dream. I don’t even know if it is even a dream at this point. More of wishful thinking. I haven’t even talked to anyone about this. Not even Hubby.

I want to do something inspiring. I want to help other people and motivate them to better themselves. I want a job where I can do what I love but also have plenty of time to spend with Peanut. Part of me feels like I am meant to do great things but I don’t know what those things are. I have always felt a drive to do…. something. I just haven’t been able to figure out exactly what that is or how to implement it correctly into my life. I am hoping I will learn what it is as I continue on my path to a healthy lifestyle and as I continue this journey to becoming a better me. I have so much passion and enthusiasm. Hopefully, I will find a way to put it to good use. Until then I will use it to better myself, be a wonderful mother and wife, and use it to write this blog.

I told you this overthinking gets me in trouble. I’ll stop while I’m ahead. LOL! Thanks for reading to my weird late night ramble post. haha! Hopefully, I will feel more positive in the morning 🙂

Tye-Dye Nails

If you haven’t realized it yet from my posts (or I just haven’t been posting enough yet), I love to go all out. I am a very enthusiastic person and when I do something, I go for it. So when it came to Relay this weekend, I was going all out. Tye-dye was the theme I was going for so I decided to tye-dye my fingernails as well. I already had tye-dyed shirts for myself, Hubby, Peanut, and my mother-in-law. Now it was time to continue the tye-dye. I found an awesome tye-dye nail tutorial here and used it to do my own nails. Here are some pictures of the process!

Tye-dying for Relay!

Everyone at my work supports and helps Relay for Life, including myself and my mother-in-law. We have a team and hold events to raise money for Relay. On Friday (tomorrow), we will be having a big 24 hour event at a local high school. I am excited about it and so are other people at work. We have t-shirts to wear for the event and some of the girls at work wanted to tye-dye them. I didn’t know about it until earlier this week. My co-worker told me and said my mother-in-law wanted to tye-dye her shirt but couldn’t since she works two jobs (she’s one amazing woman. I can never say enough great things about her).

Once I had the chance, I texted Jellybean and asked her if she wanted me to tye-dye her shirt for her. She excitedly said yes and said she’d drop the stuff off the next day. I asked what colors she wanted and she said all of them. LOL I also had the great idea of tye-dying a onesie for Peanut to wear since she will be at the Relay event as well. So the next day, I had all the stuff I needed to tye-dye including shirts for Jellybean, Hubby, myself and a onesie for Peanut. I was excited to tye-dye. I love doing crafts and projects. I pre-washed the clothes and set up everything while Peanut was awake so they would be ready once she went down for her nap. Then all I had to do was wait for her to take her nap and I was ready to go!

Peanut went down for her nap and I was ready! I was the only one doing the tye-dying so I took as many pictures as I could without getting dye all over my phone. LOL! So here they are!

I had a blast and I think they turned out great! I love the colors! My mother-in-law really liked them too. I will be postponing my Squat challenge tomorrow since I plan on walking 5K around the track and don’t want to overdo it on my legs. I plan on posting pictures!

Jamming with My Mother-in-Law

Earlier this week, we went over to my in-law’s house. Jellybean (my mother-in-law) knew I wanted to make jam so she invited me over to make jam with her. Not just any jam but strawberry jam! Strawberry jam made with my father-in-law’s homegrown strawberries. I was so excited to make it! I thought I’d show you guys a brief overview of what we did. We didn’t follow the directions exactly. We made some shortcuts.

I forgot to take another picture but after the jars are upside down for like a half an hour, flip them upside right. Then you have to listen for the jars lids to make a popping sound. The popping sound means they are sealed. Double check all jars to make sure they are all sealed. If one isn’t, then eat that one first since it will go bad faster.

I had fun making the jam and it was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Did I forget to mention how delicious the jam is???? Mmmmm…..

National Running Day

Happy National Running Day

Happy National Running Day

Happy National Running Day! I did celebrate although I don’t run. It’s not that I don’t want to run because I do. I am just too out of shape yet to run any distance without knocking myself out with my boobs, end up laying on the ground gasping for breath and wondering why I ever tried to run. So I just saved myself the embarrassment and went for a walk instead. LOL

Hubby, Peanut and I went for a nice walk. It was great outside. Not too hot but not too cool. Perfect weather to be outside and go for a walk. I even took some pictures. Hope everyone had a great National Running Day. I know I did. 🙂

We stopped our walk for a picture break.

We paused for a picture.

25 things people should know about me

Face shot

I thought I would let you guys get to know me a little better so I made a list of 25 things people should know about me:

1. Whenever I love someone (as a friend, a mate, a family member), I love them deeply and completely. I won’t stop loving them even if I haven’t seen them in years. If you are lucky enough to make it into my heart, then you will never leave it.

2. I love to learn new things… sometimes I don’t even care what I am learning about as long as I’m learning.

3. I love to read. I could just read all day and be happy.

4. I love being around people. I know its crazy but I do 🙂

5. My friends are my family.

6. I am very… SQUIRREL… easily distracted…. lol

7. When I am really truly upset or hurt and I feel like I can’t talk to anyone, I write down my problems… whether its a poem, in a journal, free style, short story, etc.

8. I have a great interest in self-discovery. If you don’t know yourself, then how can you know anything about anyone else?

9. I have problems finishing projects I start because I can become easily distracted with something else.

10. I am a very physical person. I love to hug and cuddle and give massages and just touching people (in an appropriate way lol) to let them know I’m here for them.

11. When I am really upset, just give me a hug. It works.

12. I have a strong value system. When something happens to shake that value system, I become very lost.

13. I can be very childlike at times cause I love watching cartoons, playing in the rain/snow, eating cereal in my pjs, and just playing whatever game my friend’s kids come up with or acting goofy for my daughter.

14. I hate conflict.

15. I love cookies.

16. While I am very smart, I have a tendency to lack common sense…

17. My daughter and my husband are the most important people in my life. I don’t know what I’d do without them.

18. There is a core group of people in my life that I can’t live without.

19. I am a very emotional person which isn’t always good but I wouldn’t change it either.

20. I have no regrets. Life is just too short.

21. I enjoy the simple little things in life.

22. It took me a long time to learn how to love myself but I have and I do.

23. I love anything cute, little, fluffy, or adorable.

24. I make origami. It helps me focus on something while I try to organize my thoughts.

25. I over-think things sometimes.
