Becoming the best me I can be

My goals

Along with the weekly goals I set for myself, I have a list of long term goals I wish to accomplish. No… Long term goals I WILL accomplish. I am the type of person who takes forever to make a decision but once the decision is made, it will happen. I WILL be healthier. I WILL exercise often. I WILL accomplish my goals. I will fall down. I will struggle with the challenges I set for myself but I will keep moving forward. I will accomplish what I set out to do. Even if that means, dragging my big lazy butt the whole way through this journey. At least, I’ll be getting exercise because this butt is heavy! So here is a list of the goals I want to accomplish:

Starting weight: 270

This is a picture of myself from two years ago. One of my goals is to look like this again.

Weight goals

  1. Pre-pregnancy weight: 250 pounds
  2. Lose 40 pounds
  3. Lose 60 pounds
  4. Get under 200 pounds
  5. Lose 80 pounds
  6. Lose 100 pounds and reach my ideal weight: 170!!!!

Non-weight related goals

  1. Walk 5 miles at one time
  2. Walk 20 miles in one week
  3. Start doing yoga regularly (2-3 times a week)
  4. Work up to doing 3 strength-training workouts a week
  5. 3 strength-training workouts a week, plus 2 yoga workouts
  6. Become fit enough to start jogging by the fall (October)
  7. Look like I did in the picture to the right
  8. Walk/Jog a 5k
  9. Do 5 regular push-ups
  10. Get fit and toned
  11. Do a warrior dash, tough mudder or some sort of obstacle course race!

I have been sedentary for a long time so it will take me a while to work up to working out as often as most fit people. I know I can do it! As I lose weight, build stamina, and develop muscle, I will add more non-weight related goals. I will be posting weekly updates on my progress, so feel free to stop by Becoming the Best Me frequently to watch my journey to better health!!!

What do you think of my goals? What goals have you set for yourself?

  1. These are great goals! And yes, you CAN do it. 🙂 take one day at a time! Feel free to email me or leave a comment if you ever need anything. : )

    • I know I can. It will just take time because 1) I am still breastfeeding and I need to make sure I don’t mess up my supply and 2) I am doing it the right way which takes a lot longer than dieting. I will keep your offer in mind 🙂 Thanks!

  2. You have set some great goals! I hope you meet and surpass them! I’m rooting for you!

Hey! Great goals. You’ve inspired me to think of some non-weight related goals of my own. Thanks!

  4. hi! thanks for checking out my fitness blog! Your goals look great! Balancing fitness and parenthood will be tough, but you can do it! And so worth it! Looking forward to the posts on how yoga is going 🙂

  5. I think your goals are great, you have a nice mix of shorter and longer term ones in there – sounds like we have a lot in common in what we’re trying to achieve 🙂

  6. Hi! I found your blog from when you left a comment on mine. I love following along on people’s personal health journey. Stay positive and stay strong, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. I had just started yoga a couple months ago and I felt it made me a better person, physically and mentally. Hope you have the same outcome!

  7. Great to see your goals out front. I am rooting for you!

  8. Great goals! I like how you broke the weight loss into pieces. Celebrate the milestones 🙂

    • Exactly! I know how I think and breaking this huge weight loss journey down into bite size pieces will keep me motivated so much better than if I just kept staring at that large goal. I honestly don’t even think about it as much as I think about getting to the next milestone. I work hard for a milestone, achieve it, celebrate, and then work towards the next one. It keeps me focused and I don’t get discouraged as easily.

  9. Awesome!! I look forward to follow your progress! Feel free to ask any questions you may have that a PT can answer 🙂 I will either reply to you or blog about the topic 🙂
    Great work!

  10. I love the idea of listing out some goals. Yet another thing I’ve been meaning to do! Even just to create a bucket list (with some non-health related stuff) would be fun 🙂

  11. Hi! I’ve just nominated you for The Very Inspiring Blogger Award. I hope you’ll accept it :

    Keep up the good work!

  12. You go girl! You can do it!
