July 4th nails

I had decided to paint my nails for the 4th of July. I was just going to paint them alternating red, white and blue but then I decided to add a twist on two fingers for each hand. It didn’t come out quite as nice as I would have liked but it came out better than it could have. haha!

I started by painting the middle three fingers of each hand white. The middle finger was staying white. I was using white as the base for the other two.

It's hard to see but I added a thin strip of tape across the middle of my two fingers. I wish I would have made the tape a bit thinner though.

I painted my pinky finger solid red and the tops of my other nails red as well.

Then I added blue to the tips of the nails and made my thumb solid blue. When it dried a little, I had Hubby take off the tape.

Then I used nail polish remover around the edges to make it look prettier and added a clear finishing coat of polish.

Well, there you have it! My pretty nails for the fourth of July. I wanted to have Hubby take a picture of both hands but I forgot to. Oops!

Tye-Dye Nails

If you haven’t realized it yet from my posts (or I just haven’t been posting enough yet), I love to go all out. I am a very enthusiastic person and when I do something, I go for it. So when it came to Relay this weekend, I was going all out. Tye-dye was the theme I was going for so I decided to tye-dye my fingernails as well. I already had tye-dyed shirts for myself, Hubby, Peanut, and my mother-in-law. Now it was time to continue the tye-dye. I found an awesome tye-dye nail tutorial here and used it to do my own nails. Here are some pictures of the process!

I painted my nails a base coat of opaque white. Then I put tape around my nails to make it less messy (I didn't do it for the other hand though)

Add drops of the nail polish colors you want to use. Make sure they don't touch.

Fold the plastic in half and light press to make the colors mix. Don't press too much or the colors will over blend.

See how the colors mix nicely to look tye dyed. Take the plastic and lay it gently on your nails. Try not to move it or the colors will smear.

I also painted Peanut and my toenails purple!

I just love how my nails came out. Peanut has loved looking at her toes now that they are purple. Too cute!
